We have two quick addresses for subscribing and unsubscribing:

FIBROM-L-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU - gets you on the list

FIBROM-L-UNSUBSCRIBE-REQUEST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU - gets you off the list

To utilize these addresses, you send a blank message to either sign on or off the list.  All other commands must be sent to the address below.

The following are commands to modify subscription settings.  The proper format for sending any commands to the listserv is as follows:

Send to: LISTSERV@MITVMA.MIT.EDU
Subject: (leave blank)
Message: (your command)

The commands are in capital letters here, but they are not required to be in capital letters when you actually send them

SUB FIBROM-L YourFirstName YourLastName - gets you on the list

SIGNOFF FIBROM-L - gets you off the list

SET FIBROM-L DIGEST - turns Digest on.  In digest mode, you will receive mailing list postings in consolidated messages rather than individually.  A digest message is sent out whenever 600 lines of text are reached.  There are a few different forms of digest (plain, MIME, and HTML)- some work well with some email programs, some don't.  You may want to experiment with different forms to find the one you like best.

To change your digest settings:

SET FIBROM-L DIGEST option

Options:  HTML, NOHTML, MIME, NOMIME

SET FIBROM-L MAIL - turns Digest off and individual messages on.

SET FIBROM-L NOMAIL - stops all incoming messages.

QUERY FIBROM-L - gives you a list of your current settings

CHANGE FIBROM-L newaddress - will change your email address from an old one to a new one, ONLY if the command is sent from your OLD address

If you are receiving individual messages, you can choose which topics you receive by using the command SET FIBROM-L TOPICS.  There are 2 forms of the command.  You can use it to add or subtract a topic, or you can use it to define the specific topics you want.  To add or subtract topics, follow the command with either a + (plus) or - (minus), and then specify the topic.  For example:

SET FIBROM-L TOPICS +SPIR  (Adds the SPIRITUAL Topic)

SET FIBROM-L TOPICS -CHAT  (Removes the CHAT Topic)

To specify the specific topics you want, add the names of the topics after the command.   For example:

SET FIBROM-L TOPICS ADMIN FMS SUP

You can specify all topics by using SET FIBROM-L TOPICS ALL, which will enable you to receive all topics our listserv recognizes and the OTHer category.  It is suggested that you do not subscribe to all topics unless you have an ISP and a mail program that enables you to receive LOTS of mail.  Many programs such as Yahoo and AOL have a limit on how many messages can be in your mailbox at one time.  Please do not remove the ANNOUNCE topic. More than one command can be sent to the listserv per message; however, you have to make sure that each command is on a separate line in the body of the message.
